NYFW: HOW TO STYLE MENSWEAR
Hey My Babes!
Its Day 5 of Market Week for me. Working with such an amazing crew! Hope you are following all the craziness going behind the scenes on my Instastories on my Instagram account @JOYCEAMARTIN! I love this time of the year ;fashion month and the changing of seasons. It inspiries me to spice up my wardrobe - to not be afraid to evolve my style. I have been inspiried by what it means to be feminine from the delicate, polished clients from Japan. I am also learning about feminity from the super cool Ukrainan clients who mix fitted tops with workmen boots. Being feminine can mean much more than a fitted dress. The spectrum is broad and diverse and fun. And I am diving in!
So I wandered into the Herman collection that is showing at the showroom. Its a "menswear" line. Its MAGIC. As I got lost in the pieces, I fell in love with the printed button down tops and the printed biker jackets. I saw things that could work for me. So why not? Here are ways to keep menswear feminine and what to look out for when perusing the mens racks at your favorite shops.
A Easy Way to make a menswear look chic is to wear it with a pair of heels. You can rock a pair of 4 inch Jimmy Choo in a vibrant color. Or these cool, white mule type heels from Angely's Balek is a way to keep the look feminine but still relaxed.
How GORGEOUS is the print? It radiates a fun free spirit. And if you are wary of such a bold print, I would recommend keeping everything else neutral to add balance. A pair of high waisted, fitted white leg pants would be super cool.
As you can see from the rack the shirt is buttoned up and looks formal and like a lot of print. But living in a look is what I always go for. So I went Mick Jagger with the front - you can unbutton the top 2 or 3 buttons and the effect will be the same. Undone, unfussy and cool. I unbuttoned the arms to make the look less stuffy and rolled them up casually to add a relaxed, feminine vibe to the look as well.
I chose to pair the top with slim fitted jeans also from Herman. I still didnt want to loose my shape and I felt baggy on top and baggy on bottom would be too much. I like easy so I threw on a pair of FiFi flats in a navy blue to keep the look put together.
So much fun sharing this look My Babes! Hope you have some fun in the mens shops as I will too for this Fall.
Lots and Lots and Lots of,
