3 WHY'S TO EAT ORGANIC + 3 EASY AMAZING RECIEPES
I love Saturday's! Not jut because I get to sleep in but also because I can't wait to roam my neighborhood's farmer's market. Ever since I started my journey of conscious eating over two years ago, I have had so much fun learning about the power of food. Food is fuel. It effects my body, my skin, my hair, my mind, my energy, my health, my mood, my workouts. So why not put the Usain Bolt of fruit and veggies into your tummy and go for Gold BAAAAAABY?!?!
Here in NYC, these weekend farmer's market are in almost every neighborhood. I love saying hello to the farmers every week and seeing what they were able to harvest for us all this weekend. It is super cool to see the hands behind the hard work. Food all of a sudden becomes alive.
I love seeing the all the different shapes and sizes the strawberries come in when they are raised organically or the soil still clinging to the veggies. It's fun choosing the cute ones and I can't wait to get home and savor each bite knowing that so much care and time went into getting all these good stuff on my table. Before I started to shop locally and try to eat organically as much as possible, I thought it didn't matter. "It's just a trend". "Why should I pay more for the same thing i can find in the supermarkets?" "There can't be that much of a difference between organic veggies and fruit and its mass produced buddies. Right?
But one bite into freshly plucked, organic strawberries tells me "Nuh-uh, there is a definitely a difference and I want to know why!" So I went ahead and did a bit of learning. So here we go with 3 Why's to Eat Organically as much as possible and 3 Yummy Meals to keep your tummy happy and well cared for.
Remember those strawberries I told ya about? OMG there were so sweet and fresh and the cutest baby strawberries ever. 😍 Each strawberry tasted unique and ripe. Why? Because when they are produced locally there isn't much of a delay from the farm to your table. This effects the quality of the fruit and veggies. It tastes naturally sweet and I could eat bucket loads without feeling guilty. Eating organically makes snacking taste more vibrantly and adds tons of flavors to meals that you never knew existed.
How gorgeous are these fresh mushrooms? They are almost too pretty to eat!
Isn't watermelon the best in summer? I mean I make a mess every time but its 100% worth it. Here's a fun way to enjoy watermelon without the mess 😘

Before I make my way to the fresh fruit and veggies , I like to get lost in BREAD. I can't even begin to explain how much I love a good sandwich. Perhaps its the New Yorker in me who can't turn down a corner store deli sandwich .. but nothing is better than enjoying a sandwich with fresh, organic bread. My fav are the ones with cranberries. I like things sweet!
AH HA HA! YESSSS leave me long enough and I can throw down like a NFL line backer! 😋
It's hard to escape the reality that pesticides used to produce most mass produced veggies and fruits are not good for us. What I found so fascinating with the fruits I buy locally vs at the supermarket are all the different sizes and shapes they come in! In the supermarket everything is perfect and all one size fits all. But leaving nature to do her work shows us that every produce is unique and cool in its own way. Eating organically reduces the amount of extra stuff you don't need in your body. Food should benefit you not harm you. But supermarkets everywhere are doing an amazing amazing job of making freshly sourced organic food available for us as well. Whole Foods is a great one here in NYC. The option is there and I would recommend that when you shop at your supermarket, like I do, you opt for the organic options.
Kale is good for you ! YA YA YA. We know but for whatever reason it just jumps outta of my plate. I can't. I don't like so much kale salads. I usually toss it inside my juicer and overwhelm it with all the mango and pineapple and apple that I love. So how can I use this beautiful kale bunch I just bought and make it into something that will make me happy? I love this kale and mushroom pizza combo that I could see myself having once a week ... okay every night 🙈🙉🙊 So here we go and its super cool you can make it on your frying pan on the stove! Let's go:

When was the last time your mamma was wrong??? 😋 Eating organically as often as you can and when possible is best. I think this is all combined with living mindfully. It feels great wearing a great piece you've splurged on or took ages to find. Imagine how your body will be thanking you for putting the healthiest veggies and fruits into your body to take care of your body and mind in the best way possible? I have found that not onlythe quality of organic food is more enjoyable during a meal but I have more energy, my skin looks better and maintaing a healthy weight is easier when I am more mindful of what I put on my plate.
How easy and fun is today's OOTD? I don't wear red often but felt so in the mood for it today. I found this piece at a super cool vintage type store in Queens, New York a few years ago. No idea where the red belt is that came with it so I threw on a thin black belt I found and tied it tightly around my waist, unbuttoned one to many buttons because that is just so me .. why not? .. and went on my way.
Hope you all are having a happy and healthy weekend my babes! Big Hug and Kiss To You 💜💚💛
