TODAY with ME | NEW YORK, NEW YORK
So good to be back home! There is something about the air in NYC that just makes me happy. Happy and Free! What a beautiful sunrise we had this morning. I wasn't able to capture the Divine orange and pink that was just breaking the blue from the angle on my terrace but I wanted to share it with you all.
Isn't it lovely? Didn't get a chance to grab breakfast before I left. Because I knew what I was going to wear ... in my mind ... but my closet right now is a big hot organized mess 😛 So I couldn't find a thing. Ended up throwing on a onesie after I put my whole closet on the floor and jumped in the pile and figured that it would do. Shower and out the door to Pilates!
I have been practicing Pilates - mainly reformer and cadialliac, never mat because I dont know what happens but no matter how loud the music is or how filled the class is as soon as I lie down, I am OUT 😋 - and Barre for almost 2 years now. I love it. It has given me the best shape I have ever had - long , lean and strong.
I think another reason I am drawn to Pilates and Barre is that it as much a mental exercise as physical exercise. Through my practice I am learning that you need a strong core to perform well, smaller more controlled movements are most effective, and your mind can quiet all that "I cant possibly do this" messages your body is screaming if you let it. My instructor shared a beautiful thought that I want to now share with you : "Balance is as important as Strength".
I love that. It is just what I needed to hear. I had committed Today to be the begininng of me returning to consistency and focus in my eating patterns and my workouts. But I have the type of personality that when I get excited about things I can take them to the extreme so what a wonderful reminder that staying on course requires more than willpower but a splash of ease and trust knowing that results will come.
OMG how yum are these cookies. I wanna live in this jar.
After Pilates, I headed to FIKA to get a coffee and some work done. And I am teaching myself how to cook a sea bass. Can you imagine? I have never made fish or chicken or a steak in my life. Lots to discover. Even though I just like looking ay all the pretty pictures of food and get grouchy when I see all the steps. But seriously why so many steps?!?! It's just ONE fish.
A quick session on the treadmill. I prefer to jog outside but its harder to do when its so humid in the city. So it was me and Michael Jackson for today.
I really loved this. Sometimes you can forget that you are the one who is controlling your life. Good reminder to choose wisely. And to enjoy.
I walked around a lot and saw so many cool things. Beaitiful things. The light hitting the buildings so beautifully. It's funny what you notice when you choose to notice.
Headed back home. Power lunch. Bit of rest and back heading to Soho House , modeling at an event that is celebrating the launch of a new women's ready to wear line tonight. Should be fun!
